Building in a World Heritage city
The whole City of Bath is a World Heritage Site, and much of it is a conservation area. Many homes are listed, and even small changes such as replacement windows, new rooflights or internal alterations can need consent. Applications are judged on their effect on the building and on the wider city, so the design and the supporting information need to be right.
Listed building consent
We survey and record the existing building, prepare a heritage statement explaining its significance and how the work affects it, and draw the details conservation officers need to see, such as joinery sections, stone repairs and lime mortar specifications. Where it helps, we recommend using the council's pre-application advice service first.
Extensions and new homes
Outside the centre, in places such as Larkhall, Weston, Combe Down and the surrounding villages, we design extensions, loft conversions and new houses that respect Bath stone, local roof forms and the setting of the city.
