Listed building consent and period home restoration in Bath, Bristol and the Cotswolds

Careful repair, alteration and extension of Georgian, Victorian and older homes, including listed buildings and houses in conservation areas.

Older buildings need a careful hand and a clear understanding of how they were built. We survey and record the existing fabric, specify repairs that respect it, and secure the consents before work starts.

What to expect

When you need listed building consent

Any work that affects the character of a listed building, inside or out, needs listed building consent. That includes replacing windows, removing internal walls, changing joinery and some repairs. Carrying out work without consent is a criminal offence, so it is important to get the application right.

What a good application includes

A good application has accurate measured drawings, a heritage statement explaining the building's significance and how the work affects it, and clear details of materials and methods. Conservation officers respond well when it is clear the building has been properly understood.

Experience that matters

We spent 17 years working alongside a high-end conservation practice on listed buildings and fine period homes, and that experience goes into every project, from a single sash window to a whole-house restoration.

Where we work

We work on listed and period homes across the City of Bath World Heritage Site, Bristol's Clifton and Kingsdown conservation areas, Cotswold villages in the Cotswolds National Landscape, and historic towns across Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.
